Corrieshalloch Gorge and the Falls of Measach

This breathtaking mile-long gorge, is one of the finest examples in Britain of a box canyon, its 61 m (200 ft) deep. The river plunges 46 m (150 ft) over the Falls of Measach. There is a suspension bridge a little way downstream from the falls this was built by John Fowler (1817-98), he was also a joint designer of the Forth Railway Bridge. John Fowler bought the estate of Braemore in 1867. Further downstream, there is a viewing platform it provides an excellent vantage point looking up towards the spectacular falls of course for this you will need a head for heights.

There is a ten minute walk down to the gorge which would not be suitable for those with mobility difficulty. Also, be warned, the gorge is not for anyone who does not have a head for heights!

Little Loch Broom

Stop at the viewing point before passing the Loch. This makes an ideal spot to take magnificent photographs, especially on a clear day.

This is crofting country with Dundonnell at the head of the Loch.

Ardessie Falls

A quite small, but nonetheless dramatic waterfall at the side of the road.

We will stop here to allow photographs to be taken.

Gruinard Bay

This stunning beach is surrounded by dramatic scenery which is now once again, a natural habitat for Sea Eagles. Deer and other wildlife also abound in these parts.

We stop at this viewpoint to provide a great photo opportunity and maybe catch sight of an eagle or two.

We tak the High Road

One of the great things about traveling the Highlands is that around every corner there are breathtaking views.!

Scotland's smallest Distillery.

Loch Ewe Distillery is the smallest distillery in Scotland and the only distillery to produce single malt from an illicit sized small still. Loch Ewe Single Malt is now maturing in 2 gallon casks in the bonded warehouse at Aultbea and the 'Spirit of Loch Ewe' is available to taste by the dram or purchase by the bottle. Loch Ewe Single Malt is the only Scotch whisky to be distilled in an illicit sized still and matured in 2 gallon casks.

The new distillery is the brainchild of John Clotworthy who, as well as being the proprietor of the Drumchork Hotel in Aultbea, is a Scottish Licensed Trade Association Whisky Ambassador. John's dream has come true - he has transformed a garage behind his hotel into a 'distillery in a cave'.

The No 1 whisky Hotel in Scotland

The distillery is attached to the Hotel and is the first private distillery to be granted a licence in Scotland for almost 200 years.

The Drumchork Lodge Hotel, overlooking Loch Ewe at Aultbea, boasts two bars offering more than 500 single malts: whisky tastings and dinners are an established feature. John is producing his own Loch Ewe single malt using his still and this is eagerly anticipated by keen whisky drinkers. .

Whilst we cannot show you all of the sights you will see on this tour, we have added a few more just to tempt you.
