Shore excursions from port of Belfast

full day excursion for groups of 6-14

Tour 1. Antrim Coast and Bushmills Distillery

We travel northwards and take the scenic Antrim Coast Drive. Our first stop is Carrick–a-rede rope bridge. Traditionally fishermen erected the bridge to Carrick-a-Rede island over a 30m-deep and 20m-wide chasm to check their salmon nets. From the island you have a wonderfull view of the coast.

Continuing the tour we reach the Giants Causeway: A world heritage site, a national nature reserve and area of outstanding natural beauty. Over 38,000 hexagonal shaped basalt columns formed 60 million years ago make up the Grand, Middle and Little Causeways. Wreck site of Girona, the Armada Treasure Ship is east of the Causeway at Port-na-Spanaigh. Spectacular scenery and way marked walks along the sea shore and cliff top.

We then travel onwards to visit Old Bushmills Distillery: the oldest licensed whiskey distillery in the world, established in 1608. Visitors to the distillery can experience the craft and skills involved in the making of an Irish single malt whiskey. During the guided tour, visitors will discover the secrets of the special water from St. Columb’s Rill, the malted Irish barley, triple distillation in copper stills and the ageing for long years in oak casks.

Before going back to Belfast we make a brief photo stop at Dunluce Castle. Dunluce Castle has been a site of historic battles, a movie (Jackie Chan's - The Medallion) and a tragic fable. Despite all this, the magnificent views alone are enough reason to make Dunluce a stop on your visit.

Transfer back to Belfast docks.
